Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan has admitted that his club have a "very frail squad" as they adjust to the deadline day departure of Andy Carroll.

Shola Ameobi fractured his cheek-bone during the 1-0 defeat at Fulham on Wednesday, leaving Leon Best and Nile Ranger as the only available strikers. "They've been chomping at the bit," the midfielder said.

"Well, this is the time. They're going to get a chance and have to take it. We have to stick together and the fans stick with us.
