Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Borussia Dortmund reject Arsenal's £44m bid
Dortmund consider Arsenal's second bid way below their asking price, and it is currently very much open to debate whether the transfer will go through
Borussia Dortmund have rejected a second Arsenal offer for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and the Independent has been told there is a “considerable difference” between the two clubs’ evaluations.
Looking to bolster their attack after the straight swap of Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal have made a bid that it is understood to be around £44m, the second such offer they have made. Dortmund however consider this way below their asking price, and it is currently very much open to debate whether the transfer will go through.
Arsenal are also willing to include Olivier Giroud as part of deal, but the Bundesliga club would rather a high cash offer, likely in excess of £65m.
“Confident or not confident, I don’t know,” Arsene Wenger said of a potential deal. “At the moment we are not close to do any deals, either Aubameyang or anyone else,” he said. “The negotiations are not as close as that [including Giroud in deal].
“He is one of our possible movements but there are others. The final decision is not made. You look at players what can they give to the team. Good players can always play together.”
