Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan, according to reports.

Monaco's Falcao endured a disappointing loan spell at Manchester United last season where he scored just four goals in total.

The Daily Star report that the Blues will give the Colombian another chance in the Premier League, as Jose Mourinho looks to add a third striker to his squad to compete for places up front with Diego Costa and Loic Remy.

Falcao, 29, cost United more than £10m in wages for his loan spell.

Didier Drogba is leaving the club this summer after his contract expired.

A Chelsea source told The Star: "Talks have been going well and Jose is still a big fan of Falcao, despite the difficult time he had at United.

"It looks like the deal is going to happen."

Blues manager Mourinho confirmed last week that he hopes to bring in "two to three" signings this summer, with Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann, Juventus's Paul Pogba and Real Madrid's Raphael Varane all on his wishlist.

Blues goalkeeper Petr Cech, meanwhile, will reportedly tell the club that he wants to join Arsenal.

The Czech Republic international has one year remaining on his contract, with the Blues hoping to get at least £10m for his services.
