Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Chelsea are seeking a new striker this summer, with Radamel Falcao strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

However, the Blues boss has warned that the Colombian is not the only target.

"We have to buy a striker because we want to have three strikers of a good level," said Mourinho.

"We do not want to have just one [transfer target]. Then you lose a good position on the negotiation table."

The departure of veteran Didier Drogba has left Chelsea with just Diego Costa and Loic Remy in attack, providing a vacancy in the title winners' forward line.

It's understood talks have already been held with Falcao's representatives, with the striker sharing the same agent as Mourinho. The Colombian is meant to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge whilst his potential new club are not put off by his dismal time at Old Trafford. Despite finding the back of the net just four times during his costly season-long loan deal with Manchester United, Mourinho believes he can draw the best from the 29-year-old.

Whilst Manchester United declined the option to sign Falcao for a pre-agreed price of £43.2m, his parent club Monaco are thought to be willing to negotiate a new price considering his woeful last 12 months.
