Robin van Persie has agreed personal terms with Turkish club Fenerbahce, ahead of a potential move to Turkey, according to reports.

The Guardian state that while no fee has been agreed between Manchester United and the Istanbul club, the Dutch striker has agreed a deal in principle with the side.

The 31-year-old fell out of favour and struggled with injury under Louis van Gaal last season, scoring just 10 goals in all competitions as United finished fourth.

According to the report, Van Persie's agent Kees Vos had been in the Turkish capital for the past couple of days to negotiate a move; Van Persie is said to be ready to sign a four-year deal.

Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt, an long international team-mate, has been crucial in selling the club to Van Persie and his wife, who had reservations about living in the country but is said to have warmed to the idea.

United team-mate Luis Nani is also on his way to the club and will have a medical on Sunday.

Van Persie was a crucial part of the title success in Sir Alex Ferguson's final season in charge at the club, scoring 26 Premier League goals following a £24million move from Arsenal.

But since the departure of Ferguson Van Persie has struggled, scoring just 22 league goals in the two seasons since under David Moyes, Ryan Giggs and Van Gaal.
