Roy Hodgson apparently blasted Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and manager Laurent Blanc for paying Chelsea €50m for David Luiz.
According to French newspaper L'Equipe, the England manager met the pair during the World Cup and let them know exactly what he thought about the error-prone Brazilian centre-back.
The paper reports that Hodgson told the pair: "But how could your club take David Luiz? He makes at least one error in concentration a game! €50m is crazy."
Eyebrows were raised when PSG announced the massive move for the floppy-haired 27-year-old, who put in one of the worst ever individual displays in World Cup history against Germany in the semi-final.
Captaining Brazil in the absence of Thiago Silva, Luiz was all at sea as the rampant Germans scored seven goals, including four in six embarrassing minutes for the hosts.
For his new club Luiz has, so far, been solid if unspectacular. The Parisiens have kept four clean sheets in the seven games he has played in but unbeaten PSG are currently five points off Ligue 1 leading Marseille, with only three wins and five draws from their eight matches.
