Sami Khedira: Bayern Munich enter race for Arsenal and Chelsea target but will not sign the player until 2015

The German international is out of contract with Real Madrid next summer

Sami Khedira, the Arsenal and Chelsea target, has opened talks with Bayern Munich, according to reports in Spain.

The Madrid daily Marca, reports that both of the Premier League sides will miss out on the German World Cup winner, who is set for a return to his home country - but not this season.

The 27-year-old has one year left on his contract, and it has been reported that the Bundesliga champions hope to persuade him to see out his final year at the Bernabeu before moving to the Allianz Arena next season.

Arsenal's talks with the midfielder stalled earlier this summer because of his reported £150,000 per week wage demands. Marca report that Bayern would not have a problem meeting this figure, only if they are able to secure his services without a transfer fee.
