Arsenal have not been in contact with Toulouse over the transfer of Serge Aurier, despite the right-back seemingly confirming he is joining the club.

The Ivory Coast right-back was caught on film  ahead of a World Cup warm-up game against Bosnia-Herzegovina, where he appeared to tell a delighted Gunners fan he was coming to the Premier League.

But according to the player's agent no deal has been agreed, and in fact two rival English clubs have started negotiations with Aurier.

Arsene Wenger has stated that he doesn't expect to conduct much business before the World Cup started, but it was thought he would act early to replace the departing Bacary Sagna.

The 31-year-old confirmed last week that he would be leaving the club, with Manchester City favourites to sign the free agent when his contract expires later this month.

This lead to intense speculation about Aurier, who also retweeted several articles about his Gunners connection via his official Twitter account.

But his agent Stephane Courbis insists the Ivorian is not an Arsenal fan despite reports, though conceded he would jump at the chance to link up with Wenger the Emirates Stadium.

Atsuto Uchida and Callum Chambers are also thought to be targets to compete with Carl Jenkinson, but Courbis believes the 21-year-old - who was named in Ligue 1’s official Team of the Year last season - would be ‘perfect’ at Arsenal.

A £7.5m fee has been mooted but his stock could rise at this summer's global tournament in Brazil.
