Shay Given looks set to leave Aston Villa to go in search of first-team football after losing his starting place for most of the season to the American Brad Guzan.
"I had a meeting with [manager] Paul Lambert," said the 37-year-old goalkeeper, who is not in the Republic of Ireland squad to face England on Wednesday. "We both agreed that I should be playing first-team football. And that's not happening at Villa right now."
Given made just two Premier League starts for Villa last season. He joined the club in January 2011, signing a five-year deal.
