Gary Monk's Swansea finished last year in 12th place, safe from relegation but a far cry from the Swans we enjoyed watching in seasons gone by.

This term could well be as much about avoiding the drop as climbing the table.

COMPLETED TRANSFERS

Marvin Emnes - £1.5m from Middlesbrough

Swansea's fourth signing of the summer saw them make the loan-spell of Emnes a permanent deal. The Dutch forward impressed enough during his two spells at the Liberty to presuade Gary Monk into bringing him in full-time. The 26-year-old still has the raw-pace to be a threat to any defence, he was a sprinter as a youth.

Bafetimbi Gomis - Free from Lyon

The Welsh side beat off plenty of competition to the signing of France's Gomis. After being out of contract with Lyon, Swansea could have a real bargin here. The 28-year-old scored 62 goals in 172 games for the Ligue 1 side and has 12 caps for the national team to his name. A pacey striker with an eye to goal.

Lukasz Fabianski - Free from Arsenal

The goalkeeper called time on his seven year Gunners' career, with his last action being lifting the FA Cup. Now he will look to become first-choice for the Swans after signing a four-year deal. The Polish stopper was Monk's first signing as boss and has won 21 caps for his country.

Stephen Kingsley - Undisclosed from Falkirk

Despite being just 19-years-old, Kingsley made over 100 appearances for Falkirk. The left-back made his professional debut at 16 and has been a key figure in Scotland's youth sides.

Jefferson Montero - Undisclosed from Monarcas Morelia

The Ecuador winger joined the club on a four-year contract. Montero previously played in Europe during three years with Villarreal in Spain and loan spells with Levante and Real Betis. He appeared in all of his nation's World Cup games.

Gylfi Sigurdsson - Undisclosed from Tottenham

Sigurdsson joined Swansea as part of the deal that took Ben Davies and Michel Vorm to Spurs. The Iceland international, 24, signed a four-year deal at the Liberty Stadium. He spent 2011-12 on loan at the club from German club Hoffenheim, scoring seven goals in 18 appearances.

Raheem Hanley - Undisclosed from Blackburn

The 19-year-old left-back joined from Championship side Blackburn on an 18-month contract. The England Under-19 player never made a senior appearance for Rovers.

Federico Fernandez - Undisclosed from Napoli

The Argentina international signed a four-year deal after a fee was agreed with Serie A side Napoli. Fernandez's arrival at Swansea will bolster Garry Monk's centre-back options. Fernandez has won 26 caps for Argentina, including making four appearances at the World Cup in Brazil earlier this summer. He joined Napoli in 2011 from Estudiantes for around £2.5m, helping them land the Coppa Italia last season during a campaign when they also finished third in Serie A. Fernandez additionally featured in Napoli's Champions League and Europa League campaigns, although he was not involved in either leg of the Europa League last-32 tie against Swansea.
