7 August: Tottenham last night bolstered their defence with the signing of Sebastien Bassong from Newcastle.

5 August: Toulouse are expected to demand a huge fee from Tottenham for France youngster Moussa Sissoko. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has looked at Sissoko as well as Patrick Vieira to bolster his midfield and also asked Real Madrid about Lassana Diarra, who has seen Xabi Alonso's arrival add to the competition at the Bernabeu.

5 August: Sunderland have finally landed striker Darren Bent in a club record £10m deal from Tottenham. After days of waiting, patience has finally paid off for Black Cats boss Bruce and Bent, who has signed a four-year contract.

5 August: Sunderland boss Steve Bruce knows patience is the key to finally landing Tottenham striker Darren Bent. An anticipated club record £12m move has dragged on for a number of days, resulting in growing frustration all round.
