Saido Berahino’s future appears to edge towards Tyneside as Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino distances himself from the player. The West Bromwich Albion striker has been a dressing room distraction with Pochettino still haunted by his signing of Dani Osvaldo at Southampton.
Despite trying to secure a deal this summer, Spurs look set to pass up the chance on the £20million rated England international. Instead, Tottenham appear content to let the volatile Berahino go to Newcastle United and Steve McLaren.
England international and Spurs outcast Andros Townsend may well be joining Berahino to form a Toon Army triumvirate with new signing Jonjo Shelvey. The Tottenham winger’s last Premier League outing was a four minute cameo against Arsenal in October. Having been banished from the first team in November, Townsend looks set to be moving on this transfer window.
In an attempt to boost their striking options, Pochettino has also been linked with a number of high profile strikers. Athletico Madrid flop Jackson Martinez has been offered to the club. However, The Daily Express report that Tottenham aren’t looking to spend £25 million on a player that would be an expensive back up to Harry Kane.

He would add another dimension to Mauricio Pochettino’s offence, however he has recently made his way back into Laurent Blanc’s plans and PSG would be foolish to allow such a prospect to leave.

He could act as a viable replacement for Harry Kane from the bench, with Spurs lacking depth up front. Fulham are said to want a Spurs youngster in return.

The striker, who can also play out wide, is valued at around £24m. However, Marseille are desperate to keep him during this window and will offer an improved contract to keep him at the Stade Velodrome.

He has long been linked with a move out of Russia, although the highly rated former Standard Liege man is keen to play Champions League football. However, interest is also coming from Italian heavyweight Juventus and Inter Milan, and with his contract running until 2020, he could stay at Bologna for quite some time.

It may take an £8m bid to sign him and he would not be a guaranteed success, but if he can rekindle the form he showed to win Europe’s Golden Boy award in 2009 then the deal would prove a coup.

Pochetinno has told ESPN FC that he is a looking for a Tottenham Messi or Neymar. Whilst the release of Gareth Bale’s contract papers show that Spurs have the first buy back clause it’s not thought the Galactico is looking to leave Spain.
The £25-£30 million that is thought to account for Spurs’ budget has been linked to Alvaro Morata and Ezequiel Lavezzi, however, both players are likely to move to clubs that can guarantee them Champions League football.
One striker whose Spurs career is definitely over is Emmanuel Adebayor . The Mirror report that the Togolese international could head to Selhurst Park to link up with Alan Pardew. The Eagles would need to fork out £77,000 a week for his services, but may well elicit more appearances than Adebayor has achieved at White Hart Lane this year.
