Transfer news: Alfred N'Diaye looks to be on his way out of Sunderland just six months after joining the club

Midfielder has pulled out of the club's pre-season tour of Asia to negotiate a move back to Turkey

Sunderland midfielder Alfred N'Diaye is close to a move away from the club just six months after former manager Martin O'Neill signed him in a £3.8m deal from Bursaspor.

N'Diaye is believed to be in negotiations with Turkish side Eskiehirspor over a deal that would see in return to his former home after failing to make an impact in the north east.

Current manager Paolo Di Canio used the midfielder as he looked to keep Sunderland in the Premier League, but has since told the Frenchman that he is free to find a new club.

Eskiehirspor vice-president Mehmet Akman has confirmed the club are in talks with the 23-year-old, saying: “We have started negotiations with N’Diaye and currently talks are progressing in a smooth way. We believe this transfer will take place.”

The Turkish side are currently managed by N'Diaye's former coach at Bursaspor Ertugrul Saglam, and he is likely to sign on a loan deal with a view to a permanent move.

Meanwhile, Di Canio looks set to sign Argentinian full-back Gino Peruzzi after he received assurances over the defender's fitness.

The 21-year-old Velez Sarsfield right-back had hoped to sign a deal last week having agreed personal terms, but the transfer was delayed after his medical revealed concerns over a ligament injury he suffered last season.

He was sent to see specialist Professor Pier Paolo Mariani at a clinic in Rome, and he is due back in England when the squad and owner Ellis Short arrive back from their participation in the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong.

A statement on Velez's official website read: "As reported earlier, during the week directors Baldomar and Ordonez travelled to England with the player Gino Peruzzi to advance negotiations over the latter's transfer to Sunderland.

"After agreeing contractual terms, the player underwent a medical examination.

"The professionals found repercussions from the torn ligament Peruzzi suffered last April against Olimpo in the Copa Argentina, which prompted a three-week absence from games.

"To obtain further information about the injury and its evolution, they made contact with Dr Ricard Coppolechia, who answered their questions.

"After this, Sunderland requested permission to subject Gino Peruzzi to a final evaluation at the Clinica Deportiva Villa Stuart in Rome, which is directed by the renowned Professor Pier Paolo Mariani.

"The evaluation had a positive result with Prof Mariani recommending specific work on the affected muscle area.

"Meanwhile, Sunderland had travelled to Hong Kong for some international matches, so the English club's authorities communicated their intention to sign the contract on the return of their president in the course of this week.

"Our club's entourage returned to Argentina on Sunday, anticipating that Gino Peruzzi will travel to England again in the coming days."

The addition of Peruzzi would be the latest in a whole line of changes by Di Canio, as he looks to alter a team he inherited that appeared certain for relegation at times given their dismal performances during mid-season.

Di Canio's arrival appeared to lift spirits, and he has since made nine signings to his squad, having allowed Simon Mignolet, Titus Bramble, Matt Kilgallon and Ahmed Elmohamady leave the club.
