Fulham has finally completed the free signing of midfielder Zoltan Gera from West Bromwich after the Hungarian passed a medical yesterday. Gera, 29, who turned down a new contract at The Hawthorns, scored 25 goals in 155 games for the Midlanders, including 10 strikes in their latest promotion campaign. He cost them £1.5m when signed from Hungary's Ferencvaros in July 2004. He has won 53 caps for his country and has often captained them. He is manager Roy Hodgson's third signing of the season – after goalkeepers Mark Schwarzer on a free from Middlesbrough, and David Stockdale, who joined for a small fee from League Two Darlington.
Wigan send Bent back to Charlton
On-loan striker Marcus Bent has returned to The Valley after Wigan manager Steve Bruce decided against a permanent deal. Bent, 30, was leading scorer for the Latics last season with seven goals but Bruce feels he needs a different type of player to link up with Emile Heskey.
Jaaskelainen signs new deal
Goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen will see out the rest of his career at the Reebok Stadium after agreeing a new four-year deal. Jaaskelainen, 33, looked set to move on when the team were in serious danger of relegation but Bolton managed to maintain their Premier League status and the Finn has decided to stay put.
Isaksson remains set on leaving
The Sweden goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson intends to leave City this summer despite the change of management that has seen Mark Hughes arrive from Blackburn. Isaksson, 26, has endured a frustrating two years at Eastlands, with knee and ankle injuries delaying his City debut before he fell below Nicky Weaver in the pecking order. Joe Hart established himself this season and now Isaksson wants to move.
