Barcelona continue to show interest in Adebayor

Milan have accepted that they have been priced out of the market for Emmanuel Adebayor by Arsenal's "impossible" valuation. According to the Milan vice-president, Adriano Galliani, Arsenal want over £30m for the Togo international who they signed from Monaco for £7m in 2006. "The request for €45m [£35.8m] by Arsenal is impossible," Galliani said. Barcelona are also said to be in the hunt for the forward, who scored 30 goals for Arsenal last season, with president Joan Laporta looking to secure a big-name signing ahead of the club's referendum this weekend. While Adebayor may, according to his agent, be a "humble kid from the street" and "in love" with Arsenal, Arsène Wenger will not allow him to hold the club to ransom with excessive wage demands.

Villa 'very happy' to stay at Mestalla

David Villa has confirmed he intends to stay at Valencia after his Euro 2008 scoring feats for Spain – even though they have received offers for him. Villa has been linked with Chelsea and Barcelona but is eager to stay at the Mestalla, and Valencia have stressed he is not for sale. The 26-year-old's four goals won him the Golden Boot and propelled Spain to the Euro 2008 final, which they won without the injured striker. Villa told Spanish sports newspaper AS: "I am happy here. I hope I can continue for many years, including more than I have signed for. I'm very happy at Valencia."
