Kim Kallstrom: Arsenal confirm the signing of 'hugely-experienced' midfielder on loan from Spartak Moscow

Wenger looks elsewhere as Julian Draxler deal falters at the last minute

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Swedish midfielder Kim Kallstrom on loan for the remainder of the season from Russian side Spartak Moscow.

The 31-year-old  passed his medical at Arsenal's training ground earlier today. The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger's hand was forced into the market with the news that Aaron Ramsey will be out for another six weeks with a thigh injury.

Kallstrom comes with immense experience and a short-term deal is more preferable to the Premier League side.

Wenger said: “Kim Kallstrom is a hugely-experienced player. He is a midfielder with proven quality at both club and international level. We welcome Kim to Arsenal.”

Kallstrom, himself, added:"Arsenal is an amazing club with a lot of great players and a coach who has done really well here for a long time. I am so pleased to come here to learn as much as possible. I’m here to do my best for Arsenal and to help out the team, so we can achieve good results for the last part of the season.”
