Arsenal will resume efforts to bring young Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata to the Emirates this summer.

The Gunners failed to secure a loan signing for the striker in January but with Morata becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of first team football at Madrid, Arsenal will try to lure him to London for the start of next season.

Morata is set to be Arsene Wenger’s main target when the transfer window reopens with the Spanish side asking for at least £15million for the 21-year-old with the option of a buy-back clause.

Arsenal are also trying to finalise a new deal with fellow Spaniard Santi Cazorla. The playmaker still has two and a half years on his current contract, worth £70,000 a week, but Arsenal hope to add an extra year on top of that.

Elsewhere at the club, David Beckham’s two youngest sons have been training with the Gunners this week. David himself trained with Arsenal during his LA Galaxy days and now his sons Romeo, 11 and Cruz, nine, are doing likewise.

The two trained with their respective under-11's and under-nines age group on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

The eldest of the three Beckham children, Brooklyn, has had experience with Chelsea, Manchester United and Fulham in the past.

Arsenal go into a tough run of fixtures in March, playing Everton, Bayern Munich, Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester City all within 21 days, starting with Stoke away on Saturday.

“March is the month,” said Wenger. “If we are close at the end of March we will know much more.”

This run could well determine the success of the Gunners’ season and have a knock-on impact to the possible signing of Morata in the summer.
