Transfer news: Barcelona sign Victor Valdes' replacement, German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, as Jose Manuel Pinto also leaves

Barca sign Borussia Monchengladbach’s Ter Stegen as new goalkeeper

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of their new goalkeeper for next season, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen, as the replacement for veteran Victor Valdes, with Jose Manuel Pinto also leaving the club.

Ter Stegen refused a sign an extension with the German club in January and has now signed for the Spanish giants.

Bareclona will sell Cesc Fabregas for £45million

Pinto, who has played in goal during Valdes’ season-long injury, has also been told that no new contract will be offered to him after his deal expired at the end of the season.

Barca’s new stopper, Ter Stegen is 22 years old and has four caps for Germany but failed to make the national side’s World Cup squad.

With Valdes and Pinto both leaving, the Catalan giants will be saying goodbye to two long standing members of their squad.

Valdes, who has played his entire career at Barcelona, published a letter to the fans saying thank you to the years of support he received.

Barcelona also released an official statement thanking Pinto for his six years of services to the club.

The announcements of the goalkeeper changes came from new manager Luis Enrique, who took charge of the club after Gerardo Martino stepped down as boss following Barcelona’s failure to win the La Liga title after their 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid last weekend.

Barca are set for a summer of change with several key players set for possible moves.

The club are allegedly willing to part with some of their stars should the right offers come in, with Cesc Fabregas, Alexis Sanchez, Javier Mascherano, Daniel Alves and Pedro among those who could leave.

The club will also recall Gerard Deulofeu, who enjoyed success at Everton last season, and Rafinha, who was at Celta Vigo, for their loan spells to join the squad for next season.
