Borrussia Dortmund have emerged as favourites to sign Tottenham's Lewis Holtby in a reported £5m deal.

Jurgen Klopp is understood to have asked the club's hierarchy to make a bid for the unsettled Spurs man.

It was peviously thought that Holtby could have been in line for a return to his former club Schalke, but now Dortmund seems a more likely destination.

The German side are keen to add to their squad after an ongoing injury crisis at the club that has seen them slip 14 points behind rivals Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga title race.

The slump in form has been so bad that some are now even questioning whether last season's Champions League finalists will even qualify for next year's tournament.

The signature of Holtby, who has seen himself seemingly out of the first-team plans of Tim Sherwood, might provide a welcome boost to the German club.
