Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez has reportedly told the club that he wishes to leave Old Trafford this month as the Mexican looks to ensure his World Cup place.
According to The Sun, ' Chicharito' is concerned that his lack of first-team action under David Moyes could considerably dent his chances of making Miguel Herrera's squad for the championships in Brazil.
The 25-year-old, who has made just fourteen Premier League appearances for United under the former Everton boss, is said to be optimistic that Juan Mata's imminent £37m transfer could lead to his exit.
Inter Milan are rumoured to be leading the chase for the former Guadalajara striker, but a host of European clubs are monitoring the situation.
Despite Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie both having to endure long stretches on the sidelines through injury, Hernandez appears to have been placed behind Danny Welbeck in Moyes' plans.
After scoring twenty goals in his debut season in the North West, hopes were high that the Mexican could go on to become a regular within the line-up.
Wednesday’s Capital One Cup semi-final against Sunderland, which they lost 2-1 on penalties, was Hernandez’s first start of the year.
Scoring the goal which temporarily kept their hopes alive, in the final minute of extra-time, he reminded the football community of his abilities within the six-yard box.

Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester United, £25m United’s search for midfield reinforcements has led them to Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, although they could face a fight with Real Madrid to sign the Germany international. With Anderson at Fiorentina on loan, it is believed David Moyes has stepped up his interest in 23-year-old Gundogan whose contract expires in 18 months and is valued at £25m. Part of the attraction is that the midfielder is not cup-tied for the Champions League as he has been out for most of the season with a back injury, although German newspaper Bild reports that Real are also admirers. “I will soon make a decision that will be well considered. It’s still really open,” Gundogan said yesterday.
