Toni Kroos, the Bayern Munich midfielder who was linked with Manchester United in the January transfer window, has taken to Facebook to reveal that he has not been able to agree a new contract with Munich.

The 24-year-old's current deal at the Allianz Arena expires in the summer of 2015, and while he insists he is happy at the club, he also clarified that his long-term future has not yet been decided.

"Much has been written, especially in the last few days, about my sporting future," Kroos wrote to his 1.5m followers. "The fact is I am very happy to play for Bayern and my position in the team is very good. [However] The fact is also that we couldn't agree a new contract.

"Since it runs until 2015 this is not a big problem, and we will see what the future brings.

"My focus is on the sport side of things and we will do everything possible to complete the season as successfully as last season."

Kroos has made 41 appearances for the German national team since making his debut in 2010.
