Paris Saint-Germain are readying a bid for AC Milan defender Ignazio Abate, according to reports.

The French champions are in the market for a new right-back having grown frustrated with their current options Gregory van der Wiel and Christophe Jallet, according to French media.

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves was thought to be high up on their hit-list, but with the Brazilian undoubtedly commanding an exorbitant transfer fee, but at 31 years old having almost no resale value, it is understood that PSG are now looking elsewhere.

It is thought that their gaze has now fallen upon Abate, who continues to be linked with an exit from the San Siro, and that any move would be facilitated by the fact that the Italian shares an agent with PSG superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 27-year-old Abate is currently in Brazil with the Italian squad, battling against Uruguay for a place in the knockout rounds.
