Transfer news: PSG and Real Madrid remain interested in Liverpool striker Luis Suarez - reports

Rodgers may still lose Suarez despite persuading the forward to sign a lucrative new deal at Liverpool

Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid are reportedly undeterred by Luis Suarez signing a new contract at Liverpool and plan to make an offer for the Premier League's top scorer in the summer.

According to le10sport, the two European rivals are optimistic that the Uruguayan international will still leave the Reds if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Brendan Rodgers will have been excused for believing that the new contract, rumoured to contain a buy-out clause set somewhere around the £80m mark, would have been enough to temporarily silence reports of Suarez leaving the club.

That, however, appears to have been a mere pipe dream after French media suggested the Ligue 1 champions are planning a sizable offer for the 26-year-old.

The former Ajax forward has continued to impress in England, scoring twenty-two Premier League goals this season, but still courts controversy after he was accused of diving during the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Anfield.

Currently sat in fourth place, above Tottenham Hotspur with a healthy goal difference, Liverpool are currently on course to return to the continent's elite competition but the consequences of failure remain to be seen.

In terms of additions, Rodgers has been granted the funds by the club's hierarchy to launch an £8m offer for FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah after weeks of continued interest.

One stumbling block, though, may be Basel's valuation of their star winger - thought to be around £16m.
