Manchester United look set to miss out on Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan, who has become a target for Spanish giants Barcelona. According to sources in Turkey, Barca are willing to spend the £33million needed to trigger the winger’s release clause.

The 27-year-old was in fine form during a memorable title winning Atletico Madrid season, before missing the Champions League final due to injury. After winning their first league title in 18 years, Diego Simeone’s squad is facing being dismantled this summer, with Diego Costa,Tiago and Filipe Luis all expected to join Chelsea, and Koke on the shopping list of a number of clubs.

Despite Turan’s snub, there is good news for the Old Trafford faithful with Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that Roma have opened up to the possibility of selling Kevin Strootman. Roma had previously said the Dutch midfielder was not for sale at any cost, but Gazzetta believe a fee of about £30m would be enough to prise him away.

Alberto Moreno (right) will be announced this week, according to a Spanish newspaper

United have been dealt another blow after Torino slapped a £16.5m fee on Italy winger Alessio Cerci. Both Liverpool and United are interested in Cerci whose 13 goals and had 11 assists earned him a place in Cesare Prandelli’s World Cup squad. A number of other clubs across Europe are also monitoring him.

According to Seville-based newspaper Estadio Deportivo, Brendan Rodgers' move for Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno will be announced tomorrow. Moreno, 21, is apparently set to board a flight with his father after being cut from Vicente del Bosque’s 30-man preliminary Spain squad, with a fee of €20m plus add-ons said to have been agreed.

Lorenzo Insigne’s £20m move to Arsenal has been laughed off by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, but the Gunners are believed to be lining up a move for Southampton teenager Calum Chambers, after accepting Bacary Sagna will leave.

Newly-promoted QPR are considering a move for former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, and are prepared to offer the 35-year-old £80,000 a week to come to Loftus Road.
