David Moyes labelled rumours of a transfer request from Manchester United star striker Robin van Persie as “nonsense” after reports suggested the Dutchman was unhappy with Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure from the club. Following the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle, Moyes was quizzed on the speculation, to which he replied “That is absolute nonsense. I don't know what harder or tougher word I could say but that's as good as I've got.”

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has admitted that he will look to add a striker in the January transfer window despite shelling out £7.5m for Danish striker Andreas Cornelius in the summer. Mackay admits that he does not want to put too much pressure on the 20-year-old, and will look to add a goalscoring impetus if the opportunity arises. "We are constantly looking at our striking area. But at this level, clinical centre-forwards who are proven cost £20m to £25m, and even at that level people still query them.”

One striker that could be looking for a new club in January is Fulham star Dimitar Berbatov. The Bulgarian’s agent has claimed the 32-year-old wants to leave Craven Cottage when the transfer window opens, and despite impressing in his last two outings under Rene Meulensteen, the Dutchman will not stand in the way of a departure. “I will never stand in the way of people's ambitions,” said Meulensteen. “He is an immense player that I think any manager would want in his team - especially me.”

Following the impressive draw against Arsenal, Everton manager Roberto Martinez confirmed that there is a pre-agreement which allows Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu remain with the Toffees for a second season should they allow him to do so. “We have an agreement that the loan could be extended an extra year as long as the parent club do not need the player,” revealed Martinez.

Finally, having publicly criticised the lack of goals coming from his strikers, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s hopes of luring Radamel Falcao to Stamford Bridge appear to have taken a blow after AS Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev claimed the Colombian was happy with life in the principality. “He is very happy here, he feels very good in Monaco,” said Vasilyev. “He loves this club.”
