Transfer news: Samuel Eto'o wants to play under his former manager Jose Mourinho and labels Chelsea 'a great team'

Anzhi striker Eto'o is available after financial crisis at Russian club and would like to reunite with former manager Mourinho at Chelsea

Anzhi striker Samuel Eto’o has spoken of his desire to reunite with former manager Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, claiming that “there is no other character in the game like Jose”.

Eto’o was an integral part of Mourinho’s Internazionale line-up which won the treble - Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia - in 2010 and is an alternative for Chelsea if they miss out on Wayne Rooney this summer.

The 32-year-old Cameroon striker joined Russian side Anzhi in 2011, but with all of their squad reportedly up for sale because of the financial crisis at the club he could be available at a bargain price. Chelsea face competition for the player's signature from Napoli, but Eto’o’s fondness for Mourinho makes Chelsea favourites.

“There is only one Jose Mourinho. I have played under a lot of great coaches but there is no other character in the game like Jose,” Eto’o said today.

“He is one of the best coaches in the world – and we had a lot of success together at Inter. I would like to have the chance to play under him again – because it is never boring when Jose is around.

“Of course Chelsea are a great team - and when we have all the offers on the table then I will discuss with my agent and see what my next step is.”
