Notts court Campbell

Former England defender Sol Campbell is close to joining his former manager Sven Goran Eriksson at Notts County after holding discussions with the League Two side. "We've got a great dressing room," the County manager Ian McParland said of the potential move. "Sol Campbell would add a lot to the squad. We'll see."

Dindane deal almost done

Ivory Coast international and Lens striker Aruna Dindane has passed a medical at Portsmouth. The 28-year-old, who has also been linked to Fulham, is expected to sign a two-year contract at Fratton Park this week, with Dindane's countryman Steve Gohouri also said to be interesting Pompey.

Russian choice for Moyes

Everton manager David Moyes may use money from the impending sale of Joleon Lescott to fund a move for Russian midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov. The winger currently plays for Lokomotiv Moscow.

Fulham bolster midfield

Fulham have secured the services of captain Danny Murphy for a further year after the captain signed a contract extension until 2011. Birmingham and Stoke have shown interest in the former Tottenham and Liverpool player this summer but he has now shown his intent to stay at Fulham, where he has scored eight goals in 53 appearances since joining in August 2007. Fulham have also confirmed the season-long loan signing of West Brom midfielder Jonathan Greening.

They miss...

Hammers miss out

West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola may miss out on Livorno striker and reported transfer target Alessandro Diamanti after the Italian side said they were yet to receive "any satisfactory offers" for the 26-year-old forward. The club last week suggested West Ham were interested in Diamanti, who has said: "There has been this important offer made that could change my life and make me take a leap in quality."
