Real Madrid have contacted representatives of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea ahead of a proposed £30m summer move, according to reports. De Gea has been linked with doubling his wages at Old Trafford to £140,000-a-week with a new contract extension, but The Mirror reports this morning that Real have taken the first steps in securing the Spanish shot-stopper in the hope that he will become the long-term successor to Iker Casillas. It’s also claimed that Real would be willing to triple his wages to lure him back to Spain, with the 24-year-old having left Atletico Madrid in 2011.
The same publication claims that United will seek to tap into Southampton’s reserves once again in a bid to sign England defender Nathanial Clyne. The 23-year-old’s good form over the past season and a half led to Roy Hodgson calling him up to the England squad, but The Mirror reports that he could follow Luke Shaw with a move north to help strengthen the ailing United defence.

Reports in Spain are suggesting Tottenham could yet make a move this month for Juventus star Sebastian Giovinco. The 27-year-old would add considerable talent and experience to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad having played for the Italian league champions since 2006, and he also has 20 caps for Italy to his name. Giovinco has been linked in the past with a move to the Premier League with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, but Fichajes.net claims he could finally make the switch to strengthen the Spurs attack.
Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo looks to be on his way to Crystal Palace on loan sooner rather than later after turning down a move to Hull, according to the Metro. The 21-year-old has struggled for first-team opportunities this season despite scoring the opener against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage, and Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he will move to another Premier League club until the end of the season, with new Palace manager Alan Pardew appearing to have persuaded him to move to Selhurst Park.
Liverpoolmidfielder Lucas Leiva continues to be linked with a move to Italy after The Mirror claimed Inter Milan are willing to meet the club’s £7m asking price for the Brazilian. Lucas is currently the only recognised defensive midfielder in Brendan Rodgers’ squad, although Steven Gerrard proved more than capable of playing in the hole last season, and new Inter manager Roberto Mancini is keen to bring in talent from the Premier League to help improve the recent poor form.
Finally, Tony Pulis looks to have made his first move as West Brom manager after the Daily Mail claimed an approach has been made for Watford striker Troy Deeney. The 26-year-old has been identified as a possible replacement for Saido Berahino, should the striker move on to Spurs in the current transfer window as has been reported.
