West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino reportedly only wants to join Tottenham Hotspur this month.

The 22-year-old former England under-21s forward has been subject to interest from Stoke City and Newcastle United in recent weeks. But Berahino plans on completing his protected switch to White Hart Lane despite his current club’s objections.

According to The Sun, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been enthused by news that the Baggies striker is holding out for a move to London this January.

Levy tried to sign Berahino in August but the deal collapsed when his West Brom counterpart Jeremy Peace pulled the plug.

Mauricio Pochettino wants to reunite Harry Kane with his former England under-21s strike partner and is waiting for news from the Spurs hierarchy.

Tottenham were prepared to spend up to £23m six months ago but they now believe they can get their man for cheaper.
