West Ham are reportedly turning to out-of-favour Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony as they attempt to reinforce their frontline.

With Andre Ayew and Andy Caroll both side-lined due to long-term injuries, the Hammers are keen to add to their attacking options.

The club had been linked with Juventus’ Simone Zaza but have now turned their attention to Bony instead after the City man was allegedly told by Pep Guardiola that he has no future at the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking about West Ham’s search for a new striker, Slaven Bilic said: "We're going to try to get one [a striker] if possible. We want a good one and Bony is a good player.

“The chairman is going to be very generous, I think, and we're going to get one if we can find a proper one, but they're very hard to find."

The Ivory Coast international has struggled for form and fitness since joining City from Swansea in a £25m deal in January 2015.

Although City want a sale to recoup some of their £150m summer spendings, it’s believed West Ham are instead considering a loan deal for the striker.

According to the Gazzetta, the option of a permanent deal, estimated to be in the region of €20m, could become available at the end of the season.

Should Bony make the move, it would all but dash any hopes of Zaza making the switch from Juventus to West Ham.

Bony has garnered a degree of attention from potential suitors and has already been subject to a number of offers from the Chinese Super League.
