The Sunderland goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Liverpool, with the switch being described as ‘close’ by a number of sources. It is believed that it’ll take £10m to trigger the move, and it could also see long-serving keeper Pepe Reina on his way out of the club.
The Wales captain was rumoured to be on his way to Arsenal not so long ago, but while their attentions are focused on securing the deal for striker Gonzalo Higuian, Liverpool could steam in and snatch Williams from under the Gunners’ noses. Brendan Rodgers is a known fan of the defender, having coached him at Swansea before he left for Anfield.
London-born Ilori could be the answer to Liverpool’s problems at the back, with Brendan Rodgers being linked with a move to return the Sporting defender back to his country of birth. It could take around £4m to prise the 20-year-old centre-back away from Portugal.
Stefan de Vrij:
Having already signed Kolo Toure to plug the void left by Jamie Carragher’s retirement, Brendan Rodgers is believed to be keen to strengthen his defence further as the future of centre-back Martin Skrtel remains in doubt. A move for de Vrij could materialise should Skrtel vacate Anfield, as Rodger’s has previously visited Feyenoord to watch the defender.
Tottenham left-back Danny Rose spent last season on loan at Sunderland as he seeked first team opportunities. Sunderland apparently want to keep his services, but Liverpool are rumoured to be keeping tabs on the England Under-21’s international should a deal fail to go through.
Valencia full-back Aly Cissokho is rumoured to have made a’come and get me’ plea to manager Brendan Rodgers in an attempt to force through a move to Liverpool. Cissokho, who switched from Lyon to the Spanish club just last year, commented that he is attracted to playing in the Premier League, and a switch to Liverpool could materialise is Rodgers accepts the plea.
Hatem Ben Arfa:
The French attacking midfielder has been constantly linked with a move away from the Tyneside club, with the Reds named as potential suitors. However, with makeweight Andy Carroll’s departure to West Ham, Liverpool will have to cough up a much higher transfer fee if they want the injury-prone Ben Arfa.
The Anfield favourite has seen negotiations over a new contract with Real Madrid stall in recent weeks, triggering rumours that he could either join his former coach Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, or return to the club that he spent five enjoyable seasons with. He recently pulled out of Spain’s Confederations Cup squad with a groin injury, which may delay any possible move.
Shaktar Donetsk midfielder Mkhitaryan has been heavily linked for a summer move to Anfield, and with the sale of Andy Carroll providing the required funds to drive the deal through, don’t be surprised if you see Liverpool make the announcement of his signing in the near future.
The Dutch international has been linked with a move away from Werder Bremen with Liverpool, West Ham and CSKA Moscow all rumoured to be interested in his services. Having been banned by his club in April for the rest of the season after he was caught speeding, Elia looks set to leave Germany, with the Russian club leading the way.
The Ajax midfielder was identified as a target by Sir Alex Ferguson to switch to Manchester United, but Liverpool have not given up hopes of signing the Dane. However, both clubs look set to miss out on the 21-year-old, as he nears a move to Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund.
£3m rated Christian Atsu is believed to be at ‘advanced negotiations’ with the Merseyside club. The Ghanaian midfielder has rejected a new contract from Porto, but the Reds are just one of a number of clubs interested in his. However, recent reports suggest they are likely candidates to secure the arrival of the 21-year-old.
>br/> Midfielder Tom Ince could make a sensational return to his former club should another team make a move for the Blackpool youngster. Liverpool are said to have an option to match any bid made for the England Under-21 star, but having already let him go once, it would take a rather large U-turn to bring the winger back.
The Celta Vigo striker has long been linked with a transfer to Liverpool, but the seemingly slow movement of the switch has led to the increase of interest from other parties such as Tottenham. Despite this, the Reds are still favourites to sign the 25-year-old, as they attempt to strengthen their goal-scoring potential.
Queens Park Rangers prized asset faces an uncertain future both on and off the field, but one thing for certain is that Rangers will need to cash in on the striker as they prepare for life back in the Championship. Remy has been linked with a move away from England, though Liverpool are keen to bolster their attacking options following a season dependent on want-away striker Luis Suarez.
Rodgers was said to have made an enquiry over the availability of the Paris St Germain striker in January, and he could attempt to revive the deal during the summer. Should Luis Suarez get his wish to move-on to Real Madrid, Rodgers would need to fill the ginormous hole that would be left in his attack, and a move for Gameiro could be his solution.
Should Luis Suarez depart to pastures new, Liverpool have identified troublesome striker Carlos Tevez as an ambitious replacement. The Argentinian international has had a controversial career to-date, and while he would be the perfect replacement for fellow South American Suarez, it would be near-impossible to see Tevez remain in Europe and drop out of the Champions League.
