Swansea's Wilfried Bony has been linked with a move away from South Wales

Liverpool and Tottenham could re-ignite their interest in Swansea striker Wilfried Bony after the Welsh club reportedly gave up in their quest to keep the striker.

With Bony unsettled and seemingly keen on a move away from the Liberty Stadium, Swansea have reportedly scrapped the £19m release clause that was proving to be an obstacle in his sale.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Welsh club have now relaxed their stance on Bony, who scored 25 goals in all competitions in his debut season in England.

The 25-year-old has made it clear he wants a move to a bigger club and Liverpool and Spurs have already made moves for the Ivory Coast man this summer.

Liverpool cooled after Swansea demanded the full £19m and turned to Loic Remy. But his £8.5m deal fell through after the Frenchman failed a medical at Anfield - Remy is now likely to stay at QPR next season.

Tottenham have been linked with a string of strikers but have yet to sign anyone in the position. It is not yet known whether new boss Mauricio Pochettino will give a chance to last summer's misfiring striker Roberto Soldado, who has been linked with an exit from White Hart Lane.

Bony was excellent for Swansea last year but Swansea are thought to have decided to cash in while his value is high.

Last week the club's chairman Huw Jenkins admitted he would let Bony leave if the right offer came in.

“If a top Champions League club comes in, and puts the right offer on the table, then of course we will speak to Bony.”

Swansea have moved to sign Marvin Emnes from Middlesborough and Lyon's Bafetimbi Gomis so would not necessarily need a direct replacement, though they have also seen Michu join Napoli on loan.
