Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s imminent move to Manchester United is a step closer to completion after the striker arrived at Carrington, the club’s training ground, to undergo a medical.
The Swede, who recently retired from international football following an unsuccessful European Championship campaign, is expected to announced as Jose Mourinho's second United signing later on Friday.
Ibrahimovic ended months of speculation regarding his new future on Thursday by posting an image of the United crest to social media channels.
The caption attached to the image on Twitter and Instagram read: “Time to let the world know. My next destination is @ManUtd”.
Ibrahimovic, whose contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired on Thursday, will arrive on a free transfer and become the latest addition to Mourinho’s squad.
Eric Bailly, a young centre-back previously playing for Villarreal, joined as part of a £30million deal last month.
Henrik Mkhitaryan is also expected to make the move to Old Trafford in next few days. The attacking midfielder will leave Borussia Dortmund with one year remaining on his contract at Signal Iduna Park.

Mourinho, who replace Louis van Gaal as United’s manager in May, is believed to have identified four key positions to strengthen before he accepted the job - a new centre-back, a central midfielder, a right winger and a centre-forward.
With Mkhitaryan expected to supplant Juan Mata on the right wing of United’s line-up, only the central midfield addition remains to be made.
