Croatia England World Cup semi-final preview

After four weeks of non-stop football, the World Cup will finally be decided on Sunday when France come up against the winner of England vs Croatia.

France reached the final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow thanks to a headed goal from Samuel Umtiti, which settled an incredibly close match.

They will now face the winners of England vs Croatia, who play at the location of the final on Wednesday night.

Here’s everything you need to know about the World Cup final.

When is it?

The game will kick off at 4pm on Sunday 15th July.

Where is it?

The World Cup final will be held at the Luzhniki Stadium, which was also the location of the opening game of the tournament.

Where can I watch it?

The game will be shown live on both BBC and ITV as well as online on BBC Sport and the ITV Hub.

How did they get here?

France: Since qualifying top of Group C ahead of Denmark, Australia and Peru, France blew away Argentina to end Lionel Messi’s World Cup dream prematurely before doing the same to their South American neighbours Uruguay in the last eight. Beat Belgium 1-0 in the semi-finals.

England: Looking to get to their first final since 1966, England finished runners-up in Group G to Belgium after losing the last group game before needing penalties to get past a robust Colombia team. However, they eased into the last four with a 2-0 win over Sweden last time out.

Croatia: Croatia stunned Argentina as they hammered them 3-0 to finish top of Group D but have needed penalties in every game of the knockouts having dispatched both Denmark and host nation Russia.

Will it clash with Wimbledon?

The men’s final at Wimbledon is due to start at 2pm BST, meaning there will be an overlap between the two on Sunday. The final will not be shown anywhere to fans at SW19, as is tradition.
