Coleman set for talks with FAW

The former Fulham manager, Chris Coleman, will meet with the Football Association of Wales (FAW) this week to discuss the vacant national team job.

The FAW is stepping up its recruitment drive following the death of manager Gary Speed in November and Coleman has emerged as one of the leading contenders. Other names linked with the role are John Hartson, Ryan Giggs and Speed's assistant, Raymond Verheijen. But former Wales centre-half Coleman revealed he will talk to the governing body in the coming days.

"I'll meet with the FAW this week to discuss the situation," he said. "It is a very sensitive situation so if I am offered the job and I accept I'll have mixed emotions."
