SFA asks Neymar to apologise to fans
Friday 01 April 2011
The Scottish Football Association has requested an apology from Brazil striker Neymar after the 19-year-old accused Scotland fans of racism during last Sunday's friendly between the countries.
The forward complained he had been taunted after a banana was thrown in his direction while he celebrated the second of his goals in Brazil's 2-0 win. A German tourist has since admitted to throwing the fruit.
"Scotland's supporters were upset [over] the unfounded allegations," SFA chief executive Stewart Regan said. "We felt it was only right that we acted on behalf of our supporters."
Diving in at the deep end is no excuse for shirking the style stakes
