Tevez sent off and dressed down
Monday 08 September 2008
The Argentina and Manchester United forward Carlos Tevez faces a private lecture from the national coach Alfio Basile after being sent off for the second time in three international matches on Saturday.
Tevez was dismissed in the 31st minute of Saturday's World Cup qualifier, with Argentina 1-0 down at home to Paraguay. Despite their disadvantage, the hosts equalised in the second half and held on for a 1-1 draw. It was only his second appearance for Argentina since he was dismissed in the first half of the qualifier against Colombia in November. On that occasion, Argentina were winning 1-0 but went on to lose 2-1 at high altitude.
"I have to speak to him in private," Basile said. "I have already spoken to him about the Colombia incident. We will be alone tomorrow and we will talk things over calmly."
Tevez has struggled to find his best form for his country. The striker Sergio Aguero, who made way for Tevez in the starting line-up, came on to score Argentina's equaliser.
