Wales always believed claims striker Steve Morison following victory over Scotland

Striker Steve Morison believes Wales can head into Tuesday's clash in Croatia with renewed optimism thanks to their 2-1 win over Scotland.

Chris Coleman's men fought back from behind to claim their first victory of the World Cup qualifying campaign in Cardiff on Friday thanks to a late double from Gareth Bale.

The Dragons now prepare to travel to Osijek to face a high-flying Croatia side who are sitting joint top of Group A with Belgium.

Morison said: "I don't think they are ever nice places to go to. They are very, very hard places to go to and get results.

"But going there off the back of a win will make it a little bit easier.

"We have only played three games. There are a lot of games to go.

"We've got to play everyone again so if we can go on a run, you never know what might happen."

The win over the Scots was the first of the Coleman era, after he replaced the late Gary Speed at the helm in January.

Wales had endured a disappointing start to the campaign, opening with defeat to Belgium, before suffering a 6-1 thrashing in Serbia.

But Morison insists they never gave up hope of delivering results under the new manager.

The Norwich striker said: "We always had the belief. We kept it from the games we had been winning, even though we had lost a few.

"We have a great spirit and a great camp and we enjoy getting together.

"Everyone is turning up, which is fantastic, and we will carry it on until Tuesday night and hopefully we can put on a good performance in Croatia.

"We have always been behind Chris and I think we showed that we are a very good team. I thought we made Scotland look very average."

Meanwhile, Wales have confirmed Wolves' Dave Edwards will replace Aaron Ramsey in the squad for Tuesday's match in Croatia.

Arsenal midfielder Ramsey picked up a yellow card during Friday's match, his second of the campaign, meaning he must serve a one-match suspension.
