World Cup 2014: Germany will win the trophy in Brazil this summer, according to The Simpsons
Will the US cartoon comedy prove correct at the Maracana on 13 July?
Wednesday 02 April 2014
Germany will defeat Brazil 2-0 in the World Cup final this year, according to The Simpsons.
Here is the lead character from the long-running US cartoon comedy series Homer Simpson appearing as a referee at the upcoming World Cup final, and as he blows up the end the score is shown to be 2-0 to the Germans.
Like the late Paul the Octopus in 2010, it has been proved in the past that mystics can correctly pick the outcome of results at the tournament, and Germany will be hoping for more of the same.
The Simpsons have gone football-daft in recent months, after signing partnerships with Chelsea and other clubs including Barcelona, Porto and Juventus. The teams will be getting the "Simpsonized" treatment in their official shops and online.
Watch some footage of the episode, entitled You Don't Have to Live Like a Referee below:
John Terry will definitely be watching, it is the Chelsea captains favourite show of course.
"It's great to see myself and the other players as Simpsons characters," he said in February when the Blues players were unveiled in "Simpsonized" form.
Eden Hazard, Fernando Torres, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech pose with their Simpsons doppelgangers "The Simpsons was and still is my favourite show, and is now my kids' too. I can't wait to see what Bart and Homer will look like as Chelsea players."
