Barca's dos Santos left out by mexico
Mexico have named their final 23-man World Cup squad. The surprise omission is 20-year-old Barcelona midfielder Jonathan dos Santos, whose brother, Tottenham's Giovani made the squad. Other English-based players included are Carlos Vela (Arsenal), Guillermo Franco (West Ham) and Manchester United's Javier Hernandez.
The Nigeria manager, Lars Lagerbäck, has also finalised his squad for South Africa. Notable exclusions include striker Ike Uche and Everton's Victor Anichebe, while John Obi Mikel makes the cut despite having had knee surgery last month.
The Germany captain, Philipp Lahm, has insisted his side can cope with their injury problems. The defender Heiko Westermann became the sixth player to withdraw from the squad yesterday after breaking his foot in Sunday's 3-0 win over Hungary. "We still have a top squad which can go far," Lahm said.
The Netherlands winger Arjen Robben has resumed full training after recovering from a minor hip problem.
The Australia midfielder Brett Emerton has returned to training after missing last week's 2-1 win over New Zealand in Melbourne with a calf injury.
The United States came from behind to beat Turkey 2-1 in their latest World Cup warm-up match. The States fought back from an Arda Turan opener with second-half goals from Jozy Altidore, who was at Hull City last season, and Fulham's Clint Dempsey.
