Nottingham Forest defeated Singapore's national team 3-1 in an exhibition match in Singapore yesterday. Ian Woan opened scoring in the 20th minute before Stan Collymore dribbled through the defence to put Forest 2-1 ahead. Gary Bull made the game safe by scoring the final goal in the 86th minute.

Poverty-stricken Exeter and Gillingham have 10 days to solve financial problems or risk losing their Endsleigh League status.

Giovanni Trapattoni has signed a one-year contract to coach Cagliari, sixth in Italy's Serie A, next season after just one year with Bayern Munich. Trapattoni, the first Italian to manage a German Bundesliga club, has already been replaced by Otto Rehagel at Bayern next season.

The Republic of Ireland have climbed into the top 10 in the Fifa world rankings for May, while England have dropped out of the top 20.
