FRANK HAMMOND DIES AT 66

Frank Hammond, considered the sport's first full-time professional umpire, has died aged 66. He was best known for disqualifying Ilie Nastase during his match against John McEnroe at the 1979 US Open, a decision which prompted a riot in the stands.
Mark Petchey beat Joost Winnink of Holland 6-2 4-6 6-3 to reach the second round of the ATP Challenger in Velenje, Slovenia.
