American Football: NFL Europe shuts down Barcelona
The National Football League's Europe League shut down its Barcelona Dragons franchise yesterday and is expected to replace it with another Europe-based team.
Jim Connelly, the managing director of NFL Europe, cited falling attendance in the last five seasons as the reason. A five-game average of 6,868 last season was the lowest in the league.
The NFL's developmental league has five other teams: three in Germany, one in Scotland and one in the Netherlands.
