Usain Bolt unharmed in 5.15 am car crash in Jamaica

Usain Bolt walked away unharmed from an early morning car crash in Jamaica yesterday. According to a report in the Jamaica Gleaner, later confirmed by Bolt's management, the Olympic 100m and 200m runner crashed his BMW car at 5.15am at Half Way Tree, St Andrew.

Asafa Powell, Bolt's Jamaican team-mate and rival, was at the scene but travelling in another vehicle. The pair are understood to have been at a party after returning home from Thursday's Bislett Games in Oslo where Bolt beat Powell in the 100m. Photos showed damage to the front of Bolt's car. It is not the first time that he has run into trouble on the road. In May 2009 he overturned his BMW and damaged his bare feet on thorns while escaping. Three months later he clocked world records of 9.58sec for 100m and 19.19sec for 200m.
