Ennis withdraws from Grand Prix to save herself for Doha
While Jessica Ennis has withdrawn from tomorrow's Grand Prix in Birmingham to recover fully from a foot problem in time for the World Indoor Championships next month, a question mark has suddenly emerged about whether Great Britain's other reigning outdoor world champion will be going for gold in Doha next month.
Ennis remains focused on the pentathlon competition in the Qatari capital, which is why the world heptathlon champion has chosen not to risk aggravating her recovering foot in the long jump and 60m hurdles in the National Indoor Arena tomorrow.
Phillips Idowu will be in action in Birmingham but revealed yesterday that he was undecided about defending the world indoor triple jump crown he won in Valencia two years ago. "I'm just taking it one competition at a time," he said.
