Hoy denied sprint gold by Kenny
Britain's women won the opening final of the Track World Cup last night but there was to be no gold for four-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy in Manchester.
After Joanna Rowsell, Wendy Houvenaghel and Sarah Storey – the Paralympic champion making her British team debut – won the 3km team pursuit, Hoy was beaten by team-mate Jason Kenny in the men's sprint.
After knocking Hoy out in the semi-final, Kenny met Kevin Sireau in the best-of-three final, with the Frenchman prevailing 2-1. Hoy was third after winning a bronze medal ride-off with Germany's Maximilian Levy 2-0.
