Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis to return to Olympic Stadium as it hosts the British Athletics London Grand Prix

Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis will be back in the Olympic Stadium, on the anniversary of the Olympics Opening Ceremony, which is to host a Diamond League Athletics Grand Prix.

The likes of Usain Bolt, David Rudisha and Greg Rutherford would also be highly likely to compete in the event, which takes place two weeks before the World Championships in Moscow.

Tickets are not available for purchase yet, but are likely to be highly sought after.

“It is brilliant to hear that the British Athletics London GP is going to be held at the Olympic Stadium a year after the Games,” said Ms Ennis. It will give athletes and fans who did not get to experience the amazing venue the chance to go there, and for those of us who had the most incredible experiences on the track and field, an opportunity to re-live a few memories! Hopefully I will be there and using the competition as part of my preparation for the World Championships.”

The London Legacy Development Corporation announced the meeting, which will form part of a series of events in the stadium on the anniversary weekend, with a large scale concert also likely.

The north area of the Olympic Park is also hosting the Wireless and Hard Rock Festivals this summer. The July 27 2013 weekend will mark the opening of that area of the park, where the big screens were last summer, to the general public.
