Sprinters ignore court summons
Greek sprinters Kostas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou have ignored a summons to appear in court to be questioned in a perjury case.
They are accused of staging a motorcycle crash to avoid a doping test before the 2004 Athens Olympics. Kenteris's lawyer said his client could not attend yesterday's hearing because of a "serious personal issue", while Thanou's lawyer gave no explanation. The sprinters will not be held in contempt because they face misdemeanor charges over the accident, legal experts say.
