Nigeria's Folashade Abugan has been stripped of her 400metres silver medal at the Commonwealth Games after failing a drugs test, it was announced today.
Abugan becomes the third Nigerian to fail a drugs test at the Delhi event after 110m hurdler Samuel Okon and Damola Osayemi, who claimed gold in the women's 100m.
Abugan's A sample showed traces of testosterone prohormone, which is prohibited under the current World Anti-Doping Agency list and she subsequently waived the right to have her B sample analysed.
She forfeits her silver in the 400m and, as a member of her country's second-placed finish in the 4x400m relay, that result is also nullified.
The silver medal for the 400m will now be awarded to Aliann Tabitha Pompey of Guyana, with the bronze medal going to Christine Amertil of the Bahamas.
The chief beneficiaries in the 4x400m are England, who move up a spot to take the silver with the bronze going to Canada.
