Baseball: Glavine moves to New York
Tom Glavine's long-time affiliation with the Atlanta Braves has ended with the two-time Cy Young Award winner moving to their East Division rivals, the New York Mets.
The 36-year-old, who will earn more than $35m (£22m) over three years, will bring some veteran leadership to the Mets, who are coming off a miserable season. The left-hander posted five 20-win seasons and helped the Braves win 11 consecutive division titles.
The Braves manager Bobby Cox, who won a World Series with Glavine, has watched the pitcher's career blossom since he first pitched for the Braves in 1986.
"I'm going to miss seeing him come to the park ready to play every day," Cox said. "I'm going to miss seeing him walk through that tunnel with his glove on before batting practice every day. I'm just going to miss being around him."
